He obtained his PhD at SOAS, University of London, and held the position of Professor of Political Economy at SOAS (2000-2019), where he was Director of the Department of Development Studies (2006-10) and Director of the SOAS Doctoral School (2018-19). He was Director of the Department of International Development at King&#8217;s College London (2021-22) before moving to Queen&#8217;s. He also served as Senior Economic Affairs Officer at UNCTAD in Geneva (2011-12).<\/p>\n<p>Saad Filho&#8217;s extensive academic work examines the implementation of neoliberalism in Latin America since the 1980s, analyzing structural adjustment programs, privatization and financial deregulation. His research focuses particularly on how neoliberal policies have deepened structural inequalities.
